The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
"The one who strives to sponsor a widow or a poor person is like the one who strives in Jihad in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. [Sunan An-Nasai - graded sahih]
He (sal Allahu alaihi wa salam) also said:
“The one who looks after a widow and a poor person is like the Mujahid in the cause of Allah, or like the one who fasts all the day and stands (in prayer) all the night.” [Jami at-Tirmidhi]
Sponsoring a widow, taking care of her financial needs, is a deed of supreme merit.
